The Carers Emergency Response Service supports all Carers in Birmingham by providing a FREE back up service to ensure the person they care for is given support in case of an emergency. The service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week and can provide support for up to 48 hours (72 hours on Bank Holidays), after which if necessary, longer term care can be arranged. Carers must be registered to receive the service.
All Care Staff are fully qualified with many years of experience within the field, and all emergency calls are responded to by a Care Manager. CERS is regulated by the Care Quality Commission and is part of Crossroads Care.
When a Carer wishes to sign up to the service, we work with them to draw up an emergency action plan and care plan which will determine what type of support will be needed if an emergency takes place. The Carer is then issued with a unique identification card containing the CERS emergency telephone number which enables them to access the service anytime, day or night.
Birmingham City wide. The Cared for person must live within Birmingham but the Carer can reside elsewhere.
